My story

I was born in a village in Ethiopia, in a place where identity was not an academic concept or the title of a lecture. It was a way of life. It lived in the language, in the faith, in the voices of the women, in the rituals of everyday life, and in the memory passed from one generation to the next. From a very young age, I understood something simple and profound: a person does not begin with themselves alone. Long before the journey begins, we carry a home, a heritage, and a story. My journey to Israel began as a child carried on my mother’s back through Sudan, into a new reality marked by cultural rupture, silence, and adaptation. I grew up learning to move between worlds: between the roots I carried from home and the identity the new world expected me to adopt. Long before I had the language for “identity-based leadership,” I learned it through life itself. I learned what happens when a person tries to fit in just to belong. I also learned what becomes possible when they stop hiding their voice. That insight became the foundation of my work with people, organizations, and leadership teams. Over the years, through professional work in business, public, and international settings — including missions in Ethiopia, Chile, and the Netherlands — I saw again and again that the most personal questions do not stay outside the workplace. They enter boardrooms, leadership conversations, corridors of influence, and the everyday spaces where decisions are made. Who feels they truly have a place? Who softens their voice in order to fit in? Who hides parts of themselves in order to belong? And what does an organization lose when talented people spend their energy managing impressions instead of creating, initiating, and leading? In cross-cultural environments, in moments of complexity, and in rooms where people, interests, and identities met, I came to understand that real influence does not come from force or volume. It comes from soft power: the ability to read a complex room, build trust across difference, listen to what is not being said, and stand in full presence without losing oneself. Today, as a speaker, author, and strategic advisor for identity-based leadership, I invite managers, leadership teams, and organizations into a different conversation. A conversation in which identity is not something to hide, soften, or leave outside the room — but a source of clarity, trust, creativity, and growth. I bring to the stage a unique language and practical tools that help people stop diminishing themselves in order to belong, and begin leading from their voice, their roots, and their unique value. Because our story is not only what happened to us. It is what we choose to do with it. It can become a mask that weighs us down — or a compass from which we lead, influence, and leave a mark.
